Qatar Airways v Airbus

Acting (with Lord Wolfson KC, Rosalind Phelps KC, Laura John KC, Rupert Allen and Adam Rushworth) for Airbus in defence of a multi-billion dollar claim concerning the airworthiness of A350 aircraft sold to Qatar Airways, which had been listed for an initial 10-week trial. This was one of The Lawyer’s ‘Top 20 Cases’ of 2023.


FW Aviation v VietJet [2024] EWHC 1945 (Comm)

Acting (with Akhil Shah KC, Richard Lissack KC and Niamh Cleary) for FWA in its claim worth in excess of $200m, arising from four aircraft leasing transactions. The claim raised complex and novel issues, including in relation to assignment, relief from forfeiture and the Cape Town Convention.


Acting (as sole counsel) for an aircraft lessor in Commercial Court proceedings to recover rental arrears of approximately $5m.


Advising (as sole counsel) a Spanish airline in a circa €2m contractual dispute concerning the scope of a release and settlement agreement.


Advising (as sole counsel) a North African airline in a circa £1m contractual dispute concerning the sale and purchase of a landing gear set.

Acting (with James Duffy, Nick Daly and Alexandra Whelan) in defence of multiple claims brought against Barclays under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 arising out of alleged mis-selling of timeshares.


Acting (as sole counsel) in defence of a claim against a bank alleging injury to credit.


Boyse (International) Ltd v NatWest [2020] EWHC 1264 (Ch)

Assisting (during pupillage) in a successful strike out application of a LIBOR-rigging claim on the grounds of limitation and a failure to plead fraud adequately.

VTB Capital v Republic of Mozambique [2024] EWHC 1957 (Comm)

Acting (with Timothy Howe KC, Rupert Allen and Daniel Edmonds) for VTB Capital in multiple proceedings arising from the so-called ‘Tuna Bonds’ controversy involving in excess of $2 billion of debt guaranteed by the Republic of Mozambique. This was one of The Lawyer’s ‘Top 20 Cases’ of 2023.


Dow Chemical Canada ULC v Nova Chemicals Corporation

Advising (with Rupert Allen) the Dow Chemical Company as foreign counsel in a circa $1bn claim brought by two subsidiaries against the operator and co-owner of an ethylene manufacturing facility in Alberta, Canada.


Acting (with John Mehrzad KC) in a claim for breach of restrictive covenant in a commercial agreement.


Acting (with Anneliese Day KC) on claims against subcontractors arising out of a high-profile building collapse.


Enka Insaat ve Sanayi AS v OOO “Insurance Co Chubb” [2019] EWHC 3568 (Comm)

Assisting (during pupillage) on the expedited trial of a claim for an anti-suit injunction to stop proceedings in Russia which were alleged to have been brought in breach of a London arbitration agreement.

Acting (with Ben Hubble KC and Sebastian Said) in defence of a $60 million professional liability claim in the Cayman Islands alleging an actual conflict of interest on the part of the defendant firm.


Arnage v Walkers

Acting (with Mark Simpson KC, Nico Leslie and Sebastian Said) for the defendant firm in a $490 million professional negligence claim in the Cayman Islands, one of the largest professional negligence actions ever heard in that jurisdiction, arising out of the uncovering of alleged frauds in a major Brazilian bank.


Bermuda Winding Up Petition: Advising (with Tim Howe KC) an interested party to winding up proceedings.


Cayman Just and Equitable Winding Up Petition: Acting (with Sebastian Said) for the petitioner in a just and equitable winding up petition and an application to appoint provisional liquidators brought in the Cayman Islands in respect of an investment fund.
