Fountain Court is pleased to announce that John Mehrzad KC has joined Chambers.
John was called to the Bar in 2005 and took Silk in 2020. Particularly well-known for his sports law work, John’s practice also encompasses commercial disputes, employment law and regulatory matters, as well as domestic and international arbitration.
John was listed in The Lawyer’s ‘Hot 100 2023’ and was shortlisted by The Legal 500 as ‘Sports Law Silk of the Year’ in both 2022 and 2023. He is ranked by both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 for his sports and employment practices, and by Chambers & Partners for his independent investigations work. He has been described in the directories as “exceptional and a true heavyweight in the field”, with commentators adding that “if you want to win – you want him on your side before the opposition snaps him up”.
Speaking about John’s arrival, Head of Chambers Richard Handyside KC said: “On behalf of Chambers, I am delighted to welcome John to Fountain Court. His outstanding reputation and experience, particularly in the area of sports law, will further enhance the service that Chambers is able to provide to clients both nationally and internationally.”
Senior Clerk Alex Taylor commented: “We have seen an increase in sports work in recent years and are thrilled that John, one of the leading sports law practitioners at the Bar, is joining us.”
John Mehrzad KC said: “I am extremely excited to join Fountain Court, the leading ‘magic circle’ commercial set. I look forward to working closely with outstanding new colleagues, clerks and staff to continue offering the highest level of service in ever-increasing domestic and international sports, employment, commercial and regulatory disputes.”
John’s arrival will further develop Fountain Court’s sports law capabilities, offering specialist expertise to clubs, players and athletes, managers and coaches, agents and promoters, commercial partners, agencies, governing bodies and professional associations across the full range of national and international sports. This work will complement Fountain Court’s market-leading work across multiple other areas including civil fraud, commercial disputes, international arbitration and professional discipline.
