Fountain Court is pleased to announce that Nicholas Medcroft is to be appointed Queen’s Counsel.
Nicholas was called to the Bar in 1998 and has a broad commercial practice with an emphasis on banking, fraud, professional liability, financial services regulation and investigations. Nicholas joined Chambers in July 2016 as part of Fountain Court’s ground-breaking commercial crime team and has extensive experience of acting for banks caught up in fraud and money laundering, as well as substantial disciplinary and regulatory proceedings.
Nicholas has been involved in a number of high profile cases over the years including: MG Rover, Connaught and BHS. Other notable cases include FSA v Alexander (the first market abuse case to be brought by the FSA in the Chancery Division), Shah v HSBC Private Bank (the leading case on the conflict between a bank’s duties to its customers and its duties under POCA) and N v Royal Bank of Scotland plc (whether POCA excludes the court’s jurisdiction).
