Former member of Fountain Court Chambers, Lord Justice Underhill, has been appointed as Vice-President of the Court of Appeal (Civil Division) by the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Burnett of Maldon, following consultation with the Lord Chancellor. The appointment took effect on 16 July 2018. Nicholas Underhill was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1976 and became a Bencher of Gray’s in 2000. He took Silk in 1992, specialising in complex employment, commercial and public law work during his distinguished career as a member of Fountain Court. He was appointed a Recorder in 1994, a Deputy High Court Judge in 1998 and a High Court Judge in 2006. From 2009 to 2011 he was President of the Employment Appeal Tribunal. He was appointed to the Court of Appeal in 2013.
