Mark Simpson QC has been included in The Lawyer’s 2016 Hot 100 Bar list – a list of the UK’s top barristers.  Frequently sought after for his expertise in legal and financial-related negligence claims, Mark has a thriving practice advising firms and companies on investigations and regulatory issues. His flagship professional negligence caseload continues to reflect his instruction in many of the most substantial professional negligence cases before the UK courts, for both claimants and defendants.

Recent cases have included acting for the valuers in MASNOL v Edward Symmons, a case of significant market importance on whether swap break costs are claimable and defending Gibson Dunn & Crutcher partner Peter Gray against allegations that he misled the High Court, the appeal of which is due to be heard in February. 2016 will also see him act for the claimant SPV in the £200m claim by a special purpose vehicle, Gemini, against two firms of valuers in relation to the valuation of a portfolio of 37 properties. The case is the biggest valuation claim ever brought in the UK.
