Fountain Court Chambers is pleased to announce that Ben Valentin and Rosalind Phelps have been appointed Queen’s Counsel.
Ben Valentin was called to the Bar in 1995 and joined Fountain Court Chambers from South Square Chambers in 2014. Ben has been consistently ranked among the foremost practitioners at the Commercial Bar in principal practice areas of Commercial Dispute Resolution, Banking & Finance, Civil Fraud and International Arbitration by the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. He regularly acts both in an advisory capacity and as an advocate before the English courts and also has significant experience both of international arbitration and complex offshore litigation (notably in the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands). Ben is also called to the New York State Bar and the British Virgin Islands Bar.
Rosalind Phelps was called in 1998. Ros is recommended by the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners in the areas of Commercial Dispute Resolution, Banking & Finance, Aviation and Civil Fraud. Additionally, the Legal 500 ranks her for Professional Negligence work and Chambers & Partners for Travel Law. She has substantial experience in both large-scale commercial disputes (including, for example, the recent litigation involving the Tchenguiz brothers and the Tajik Aluminium proceedings in the Commercial Court) and also acting in trial, appeals and interlocutory matters including injunctions, jurisdiction applications and summary judgment hearings.
Ben and Rosalind will formally become silks when they make their declaration before the Lord Chancellor at a ceremony on 22 February 2016.
