To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting (ICLR) readers were asked to vote for what they considered to be the most critical cases over five time periods. The result was a list of the 15 cases that made the greatest contribution to legal history. These cases formed a special anniversary edition of the Law Reports.

In the period 1971 -1995, which was noted for a rapid growth in the development of judicial review and the enforcement of rights under European law, Caparo Industries plc v Dickman [1990] 2 AC 605, HL(E) (a landmark case regarding the test for a duty of care in tort) was voted the most significant case of that period, and so included in the top fifteen cases of the past 150 years.

All counsel in the case were from Fountain Court Chambers.
