Fountain Court Chambers is pleased to announce that Stephen Moriarty QC has been elected as Head of Chambers in succession to Tim Dutton QC on completion of his 5 year term of office. With immediate effect, Stephen has appointed Bankim Thanki QC as Deputy Head of Chambers during his tenure as Head.

Under Tim’s stewardship, Fountain Court has gone from strength to strength, winning a succession of legal and service awards, with its members continuing to appear on a regular basis in high profile cases, and its revitalised clerking team, headed by Alex Taylor, receiving plaudits from the market. Tim has also presided over a period of considerable expansion as Fountain Court has continued to attract the most able young lawyers wishing to practise at the self-employed Bar. Tim will continue in full time practice at Fountain Court.

Tim Dutton said “It has been a privilege to serve Chambers during a period of strong growth in all areas of our work”.

Stephen Moriarty said “there are strong challenges ahead in the changing legal services market, and to take over from Tim Dutton is a hard act to follow. I am confident, however, that with Bankim Thanki as my Deputy, with our clerking and administrative teams being at the top of their game, and with the enviable reputation of our members, Fountain Court will go from strength to strength.”

Bankim Thanki said “Fountain Court is fortunate indeed that Stephen Moriarty is taking over as Head of Chambers following on from his successful and popular Chairmanship of the Commercial Bar Association. It will be a great privilege (as well as enormous fun) to work with Stephen in continuing Tim Dutton’s great work in guiding this fine set of Chambers. ”
