The Commercial Court has held that claims for about £50 million brought by Sony’s insurers against the body responsible for the Metropolitan Police in respect of property destroyed during the August 2011 riots are recoverable under the Riot (Damages) Act 1886.  The judgment ruled on issues of general importance arising out of the London Riots of 2011.
