The Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery Chamber) has just released its Decision in the FSA’s market abuse case against Mr Graham Betton. The Tribunal upheld the FSA’s ban on Mr Betton working in financial services and will determine a suitable financial penalty in due course. Mr Betton was the managing director of a stockbroking firm that became involved in a share ramping scheme to artificially raise the price of shares in Fundamental-E Investments plc, traded on AIM. Michael Green QC has acted for the FSA on this and other related cases including, with Bankim Thanki QC, in Winterflood Securities v. FSA [2010] 2 BCLC 502 (CA).
