Leading commercial litigation and banking set, Fountain Court Chambers, is delighted to welcome 2 new members to its clerking team.

Following Director of Clerking Alex Taylor’s arrival at Fountain Court in the spring of this year, the first step in a planned reorganisation of the clerking function (with further changes to follow) has been undertaken. This reorganisation will allow the clerking team to better meet changing client requirements and to provide a more dedicated service in supporting the barristers’ developing practices.

  • Paul Martenstyn (currently First Junior Clerk at Hardwicke Buildings) will be taking on the position of Team Leader from 1st December 2008. Paul has 12 years’ clerking experience focusing mainly on commercial and insurance work which are among the key practice areas at Fountain Court Chambers. In 2007 he became the first barristers’ clerk to be awarded the Professional Certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
  • Sian Huckett (formerly a clerk at Keating Chambers) joined Fountain Court Chambers at the end of October 2008 and is assistant clerk to Senior Clerk, Mark Watson responsible for the Silks at Fountain Court Chambers.

The reorganisation of the clerking function at Fountain Court is complemented by the renovation of the Clerks’ Room to create a modern and functional working space designed to enhance internal communications. These renovations are due to complete by the New Year and follow hot on the heels of the complete rebuild of Fountain Court Chambers’ reception, waiting and conference room areas, which was completed at the end of September.

Commenting on the recruitment of Paul Martenstyn and Sian Huckett, Fountain Court‘s Head of Chambers Timothy Dutton QC, said: “As a leading set, it is important that Fountain Court continues to invest in the best management and clerking techniques. The recruitment of Paul and Sian is a vital step in ensuring the clerking function at Fountain Court maintains its reputation for excellence.”

Director of Clerking, Alex Taylor said: “We look forward to welcoming Paul to Fountain Court Chambers. He and Sian will make perfect additions to our developing clerking team. Their individual skills and experience together with the on-going renovation work at Fountain Court, ensure that we continue to offer our clients and members the highest calibre of service.”
