Alex Taylor

Alex was appointed to the newly created position of Director of Clerking in April 2008. Alex’s principal function is to lead the Clerking and Business Development Teams.

Alex previously spent 9 years at Fountain Court between 1979 and 1988 as Junior Clerk (when he was known as John), which provided him with an excellent foundation to develop his career as a barristers' clerk. Alex then moved  to 11 King's Bench Walk (at that time the chambers of Lord Irvine QC) in September 1988 where he was the 1st Junior Clerk until January 1994 when he moved to Old Square Chambers as their Senior Clerk, a position he held for 14 years.
 
Alex is a qualified member of the Institute of Barrister's Clerks having gained a distinction in their exams and he has served as a member of the Management Committee for a number of years. He was also one of the original members of the Bar Council’s CFA Panel, which he served on until February 2008.  In 2009, Alex joined the British Association for Sport and Law. He is also a member of Member of the British Russian Lawyers Association (BRLA).
