On 17th December the British Airways cabin crew strike over the “12 days of Christmas” due to commence on 22nd December, was declared unlawful by Mrs Justice Cox.  Paul acted as junior counsel for British Airways.  Cox J granted the injunction sought, preventing the strike and restoring Christmas to over a million travellers and their families.

Paul’s instructions from British Airways round off a very successful year of industrial relations work which included acting for Royal Mail in both the London and National strikes, together with Charles Béar QC.  Paul Gott and Charles Béar QC were also the team instructed in the groundbreaking case of Metrobus v Unite [2009] IRLR 851 which held that UK strike balloting legislation was in compliance with Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
