Fountain Court Chambers, the leading London commercial chambers, will today announce that three new door tenants have been appointed to the set. David R Wingfield, a leading Canadian commercial litigator, Lawrence Boo, a leading Singaporean arbitrator, and Peter Watts, an internationally respected New Zealand academic and barrister, have all accepted invitations to join chambers.

The three new door tenants are each highly respected in their home jurisdictions, and add considerable standing to Fountain Court’s international work as well as to its cadre of existing door tenants, who include Sir Mark Potter, Sir Gordon Langley, Sir Henry Brooke, Sir Francis Jacobs QC, Professor Andrew Burrows QC (Hon.), and Michael Lerego QC. The appointments bring the number of door tenants at Fountain Court to twelve.

David R Wingfield is a partner at leading Canadian firm, WeirFoulds LLP, and a highly regarded commercial litigation counsel. He is qualified in Ontario, New York, and as a solicitor in England & Wales, (prior to his call to the Bar). He is known for his skilful and creative representation of clients involved in complex domestic and international litigation matters. Wingfield has been named as one of Canada’s leading cross border and leading corporate/commercial litigators.

Professor Lawrence Boo is Singapore’s leading arbitrator, and a legal academic. A former Deputy Chairman of SIAC, (the Singapore International Arbitration Centre) he has arbitrated in over 195 cases, and has mediated in over 70 others. He is renowned across Asia for his work in arbitration and ADR, having helped set up SIAC from its inception, as well as teaching international arbitration at the National University of Singapore. He holds visiting professorships in China and Australia.

Professor Peter Watts is a leading New Zealand legal academic, qualified as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand. He practises as a door tenant at Bankside Chambers in Auckland, one of New Zealand’s leading commercial sets. He is a recognised expert in agency, company and commercial law, including on directors’ powers and duties, and is the current General Editor of the leading work on agency, Bowstead and Reynolds on Agency. He writes extensively for the Law Quarterly Review and other academic journals. He is a Professor of Law at the University of Auckland.
