Jacob Turner, working with Minesh Tanna and colleagues at Simmons & Simmons and the consultancy Best Practice AI, have launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI) compliance framework and advisory service. The deployment of AI is subject to increasing regulatory and ethical scrutiny worldwide. This includes the GDPR as well as new regulations under development in different jurisdictions. The framework and advisory service aims to assist clients in a range of different industries to ensure that their use of AI is in compliance with applicable regulations and ethical best practice.

Jacob is the author of Robot Rules: Regulating Artificial Intelligence (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018), which has been cited by Lord Hodge and Lord Sales in extrajudicial speeches on the legal impacts of AI. Jacob’s recent work on data and AI includes:

  • Advising a Middle Eastern country on drafting AI regulations
  • Providing training to the judiciary of two countries on novel legal challenges arising from AI
  • Advising one of the world’s largest asset managers and a major venture capital firm on their data and AI policies
