Fountain Court is a long established and substantial set of commercial barristers, based in the Temple, London, but also with new offices in Singapore’s financial district.
Members of Chambers are recognised as leaders in the field of commercial disputes, for clients both in the UK and overseas, offering expertise in a wide range of practice areas and modes of dispute resolution.
Fountain Court has long been regarded as a premier set within the ‘magic circle’ of leading commercial sets of barristers in London. Its members have been involved in virtually all of the most significant pieces of commercial litigation to come to trial over the past few decades and we expect that trend to continue into the future.
The set has a distinguished record of being involved in cases making new law, whether in the House of Lords, the Supreme Court, the Privy Council, the Court of Appeal or at first instance.
Members have also appeared in other jurisdictions including in the Caribbean, Hong Kong, Singapore, and in the European Court of Human Rights and the European Court of Justice.
Some of our members have gone on to become Law Lords, Court of Appeal and High Court judges, or to take positions in the United Kingdom government, including as Lord Chancellor, Attorney-General and Solicitor-General. Others make up the ranks of international arbitrators in which they have a distinguished reputation.
Other members have taken leadership positions within the Bar Council and Bar Standards Board, in industry, in specialist professional associations, such as the Commercial Bar Association, or acting as the trustees of some of the UK’s leading charities.
We have been instructed by the UK government, major local authorities, the general counsel of FTSE-100 companies, major UK and US law firms in the City of London, as well as law firms around the world. We are also regularly instructed by nationally, regionally, and locally recognised solicitors’ practices throughout England & Wales.
