Summary of Practice
Timothy Walker accepts appointments through chambers as an arbitrator, and to conduct neutral evaluations.
He was born in 1946, and was educated at Harrow School, where he was an entrance scholar. He went to University College Oxford, where he was a scholar, and took a first class degree in jurisprudence. He was called to the Bar in 1968, and was Eldon law scholar in 1969. He took silk in 1985. At the Bar his practice was almost exclusively commercial. He did a number of shipping cases, both in arbitration and litigation. He had an extensive aviation practice. He had widespread experience of insurance and reinsurance.
He was appointed a High Court Judge in 1996 at the age of 50. He was authorised to sit in the Commercial Court, and in that capacity has heard and decided a large number of commercial disputes covering the areas with which he dealt at the Bar. He retired very early as a result of head injuries sustained in a sailing accident in August 2000. After a recommendation from the Chief Occupational Physician acting for the Lord Chancellor, in 2006 he was authorised by the Lord Chief Justice to deal with High Court work as a retired judge.
