Mini-pupillage
What is a Mini-Pupillage?
Mini-pupillages offer an opportunity for those who are considering a career at the English Bar and have the potential to be pupils at Fountain Court to meet us and to be introduced to the type of work done and to life in Chambers. The mini-pupillage, usually lasts for 2 days at around Christmas, Easter or June/July.
How important is it to do a Mini-Pupillage?
The number of mini-pupillages we offer per year is strictly limited and we are only able to accommodate a small number of those who apply. However, we emphasize that we take many pupils as award or unfunded pupils who have not been mini-pupils at Fountain Court. Applications from those who have been mini-pupils are treated no more and no less favourably than other applications.
Our mini-pupillages are not assessed
Whether for the purposes of any subsequent applications for pupillage or otherwise. We take the view that there are enough calls on the time of those who wish to qualify for the Bar without adding to them by making an assessed mini-pupillage a necessary condition of applying to Fountain court for a full pupillage.
How do I apply for a Mini-Pupillage?
Mini-pupillages are generally (but not always) undertaken in the applicant's second year at university in the case of students undertaking a law degree, or during or after the diploma in law (or equivalent) in the case of non-law graduates. Please note that candidates will usually only be considered for mini-pupillage once they have commenced their legal studies. Applications should be made in writing on the attached application form and sent to Natalie Davis at Fountain Court Chambers, Fountain Court, Temple London EC4Y 9DH. We would also be very grateful if applicants could also complete and return the diversity form.
