Summary of Practice
Sir Gordon Langley was called to the Bar in 1966 and practiced for 29 years, being appointed as Queen’s Counsel in 1983. In 1995 he became a High Court Judge, both as a Judge sitting in the Commercial Court and at the Bar his practice has been focused on Commercial litigation.
The disputes regularly involved parties from other jurisdictions and the application of “foreign” law; he has been the judge in a number of high profile cases such as the Film Finance litigation and the claims by Equitable Life against its former auditors and directors.
Described by The Lawyer in 2006 as one of the five stars of the High Court Bench and in 2007 and as one of three “stand out” Judges.”

Since retiring as a Judge Sir Gordon Langley sits as a Neutral Evaluator and as Arbitrator; both party-appointed and as Chairman under the rules of the ICC, LCIA, SIAC and on an adhoc basis. The disputes cover a wide range of areas including commercial contracts, insurance and reinsurance, shipping, energy, media, sport and joint ventures.
